A 60-minute Yin Yoga class focused on releasing the non-muscular tissues (fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones) by means of postures that are held for several minutes or longer and use of props to support the parts of the body as needed. The class focuses on feeling release in the body and conditioning the connective tissues but also focuses on sending the mind's attention and perception inward. This class often has the effect of meditative practice and will often have meditative themes given throughout the class. Yin Yoga is also very useful as a complementary practice to activities that focus heavily on muscle strength and development.
